I will also discuss the side effects of some medications that some doctors commonly prescribe for menopausal symptoms, including specific details about these medications: Systemic Hormone Therapy with Vaginal Estrogen, Gabapentin, Gralise, Horizant, Neurontin, Clonidine, Catapres, Kapvay, Fezolinetant, and Veozah. It is important to prevent risks such as vaginal bleeding, dementia, stroke, blood clots, cancer, and death from lung cancer.

Additionally, I will mention medications that some doctors commonly prescribe and their side effects so that you can opt for natural

treatments and avoid them. Here are some treatments:


Diet and Nutrition: Maintaining a balanced diet rich in whole foods can significantly

impact menopausal symptoms. Focus on:


  • Phytoestrogens: Found in soy products, flaxseeds, and legumes, they can help balance hormones naturally.

  • Vitamin D: Essential for bone health, especially as estrogen levels decrease. Include leafy green vegetables.

  • Antioxidant-Rich Foods: Fruits and vegetables like berries, citrus fruits, and leafy greens help reduce inflammation and support overall well-being. Hydration with Herbal Infusions: Herbal infusions can be a comforting and beneficial addition to your daily routine. Some effective options include:

  • Red Clover Tea: Contains phytoestrogens that may help with hot flashes and night sweats.

  • Chamomile Tea: Soothing and can improve sleep quality.

  • Peppermint Tea: Can help with digestive issues and reduce bloating. Vitality Juices: Fresh juices are an excellent way to intake essential vitamins and minerals. Consider:

Specific Remedies:

  • Cook black beans with rice into a porridge and consume it twice daily.

  • Steam chicken with lycium (Goji) fruit and yam.

  • Rice porridge with nuts, lotus seeds, and sunflower seeds.

  • For hot flashes: Slowly cook 60 g of celery and 30 g of Leonurus cardiaca (Motherwort) and then serve.


Avoid:

  • Meat, alcohol, fried foods, fatty foods, salty foods, coffee, caffeine, sweets, and sugar, cow’s milk and other dairy products, white bread, refined foods, processed foods, fried foods, and it is also important not to smoke.

  • If hot flashes are present, especially avoid: spicy sauces, spicy foods, hot drinks, especially coffee. Possible


Harms of Systemic Hormone Therapy:

  • Increased risk of vaginal bleeding with estrogen and progestin, which may require evaluation by endometrial biopsy (since bleeding is a risk factor for uterine cancer).

  • Increased risk of urinary incontinence with estrogen alone or estrogen and progestin.

  • Increased risk of dementia with estrogen alone or estrogen and progestin in people aged 65 and older.

  • Increased risk of stroke and myocardial infarction with estrogen alone or estrogen and progestin.

  • Increased risk of endometrial cancer with estrogen alone in women with an intact uterus.

  • Increased risk of breast cancer with prior use of estrogen with progestin for at least 10 years after stopping them.

  • Increased breast density with estrogen and progestin, which decreases the effectiveness of mammograms and also increases the risk of breast cancer.

  • Increased risk of death from lung cancer with estrogen and progestin.


Vaginal Estrogen: Allopathic doctors prescribe it to relieve vaginal dryness. Estrogen can be administered directly into the vagina using a vaginal cream, suppository, or ring. This treatment releases only a small amount of estrogen, which is absorbed by vaginal tissues. This can help relieve vaginal dryness, discomfort during intercourse, and some urinary symptoms.


Prolonged Use of Estrogens: Can cause adverse effects such as:

  • Breast pain or tenderness

  • Headache

  • Nausea


  • Dizziness

  • Heartburn

  • Vomiting

  • Nervousness

  • Depression

  • Irritability

  • Gas

  • Hair growth

  • Changes in sexual desire

  • Gastrointestinal disturbances


Gabapentin, Gralise, Horizant, Neurontin: Gabapentin is approved for the treatment of seizures but has also been shown to help reduce hot flashes. This medication is useful in women who cannot undergo estrogen therapy and those who also have night sweats. Gabapentin can cause many side effects, the most common of which include:

  • Dizziness

  • Nausea

  • Drowsiness

  • Peripheral edema, evidenced by swelling of the extremities


Other side effects include:
